Society of Strays

connection through creativity

what we do

We are driven by the belief that creativity reaches across boundaries and connects people and communities and connects people and communities in unique ways that support mental health and wellbeing

It is a black and white photo. Dancers young and old are standing and spreading their arms and legs into the space. Some are carefully balanced on one leg. They are smiling.

Rooted in community

As a CIC, we are dedicated to providing communities with bespoke arts projects in The North East

A black and white photo. Donna - a white woman with dark hair and dark glasses - is wearing a white t-shirt with the Society of Strays logo. She is stretching her arms out wide and smiling at somebody next to her. In the background, an older woman in dark clothing stretches her arms up high.

Cross-art collaborations

Dance, music voice, drama: Our practice spans a range of performance art mediums to explore ideas through the lens of dark comedy, dynamic physicality, absurdism and character-driven narrative.

A black and white photo. An older man with greying hair leans forward with his hands clasped. The hands of an older lady reach either side of his head but don't make contact.

Positive mental heath & wellbeing

Dance and music have proven benefits for improving positive mental health and wellbeing
